6 questions for 6 years: Joe
HOME is a pretty special place to work. And we’re not just saying that ourselves – our Homie retention levels are the among the highest in the industry.
We wanted to chat to some of ’em to find out what it is about HOME that makes them stay. So, we’ve got a bunch of Homies lined up who have all been here for 6 years. And we’ve asked them – yep, you guessed it – 6 questions about their time at the agency.
This time, we’ve been chatting with Joe Metcalfe, our Senior Communications Manager…
What’s your role here at HOME?
I take ownership, manage and lead on accounts producing creative campaigns and business as usual activity, always ensuring strategy and ideas are executed at the highest level.
How has your role developed since you first started?
I actually started off as a Digital PR Executive in the SEO team, as the Comms department didn’t exist in its current form back in 2013!
Since starting at HOME, my role has massively diversified to keep up with the ever-evolving industry. Now, I’m required to have a much broader understanding of Comms, including PR, social media, influencer marketing, copywriting, SEO, media and development.
How would you describe life at HOME?
Life at HOME is great, hence why I’ve not left! The work we create as an agency is of the highest standard and my fellow Homies are a friendly bunch!
What is it that’s made you stay for six years?
It might sound cheesy, but I’ve stayed because HOME really does feel like home. I’ve made some great friends over the years, so that’s obviously one of the reasons. However, mainly it’s because I love what I do, and I’m proud of the campaigns that we create, so why would I want to leave?
And what is something that’s challenged you since you’ve been here?
Learning everyone’s names – I’m utterly useless at it.
What would you say to people wanting to work here/new starters?
It’ll be the best decision you ever make. You’ll learn so much and meet amazing people in the process.
